Middle Kuskokwim Languages Youth Tee – Wolf/Kegluneq/Nigughun
Wolves have long been part of the landscape of the Middle Kuskokwim, moving through the forests, hills, and river country that surround our communities. They are powerful, intelligent animals that remind us of the wild places connected to our homes and the importance of living with respect for the land and the animals that share it. Across Alaska Native cultures, animals are also woven into stories, teachings, art, and ways of understanding the world.
This unisex t-shirt features an illustration of a wolf along with two Native words for the animal:
Kegluneq– Yup’ik word
Nigughun – Deg Xinag word
This shirt is more than just clothing. It is one of the ways we work to preserve language, honor the Middle Kuskokwim culture and community, and support students from the Middle Kuskokwim region of Alaska. All proceeds benefit The Kuskokwim Corporation’s Shareholder students. We hope you wear it with pride!
